Venta Peiralún, Le Col du Pourtalet — A Stop We Don’t Recommend
During our visit to the beautiful Col du Pourtalet, on the border between France and Spain, we stopped at Venta Peiralún, a restaurant that looked inviting from the outside. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.
When we arrived, we chose to sit on the terrace to enjoy the sunshine and the mountain air. However, the woman running the place came out and told us — without much kindness — that she was alone and too tired to serve outside. Her tone was blunt and not at all welcoming.
We were traveling with an 89-year-old person, who couldn’t easily move or walk inside, and we explained this to her. But she showed no understanding or flexibility, insisting that she would not serve us on the terrace.
Given the lack of courtesy and the complete absence of hospitality, we decided to leave. It was truly disappointing, especially in such a charming location where travelers expect warmth and friendliness.
We do not recommend Venta Peiralún. There are many other nearby restaurants around the Col du Pourtalet that are much more welcoming, and where the staff will treat you kindly — something that makes all the difference after a long mountain drive.
